I was asked this question the other day.
My answer was essentially, “While it may seem so, they are not all Republican.”
However, the fact remains that most auctioneers appear to be Republican.
With the Internet, one can look at Facebook, blogs, , forums and the like and easily make this conclusion.
Additionally, there are auctioneer conventions, seminars, meetings, dinner conversations, emails, text messages, etc.
which also point to this pattern.
The “modern” Republican Party was founded March 20, 1854.
Most say, currently, Republicans advocate laissez-faire economics, personal responsibility, religion, military spending, smaller government and school choice; they appear to oppose government regulation, affirmative action, environmental protections, same-sex marriage, abortion and welfare.
Of course, these are generalizations, and not particular to any certain Republican or Republican-auctioneer.
The 2010 Michigan State University Auction Industry Study concluded the typical auctioneer was:
51 to 65 years of age
Possesses a high school diploma or GED
Most likely in the Midwest or southern United States
Some studies have shown that for the 2012 U.S.
Presidential election, the typical Mitt Romney (Republican nominee) supporter was:
41 to 65 years of age
Possesses a high school diploma, or less education
Most likely in the Midwest or southern United States
Maybe we just answered our own question? It would appear the typical auctioneer is almost exactly the typical Republican voter in the 2012 U.S.
Presidential election.
However, these statistics point to the average auctioneer/Republican.
The 2010 Michigan State University Auction Industry Study suggested that:
Al Cardenas, head of the American Conservative Union and longtime Republican leader said after Romney’s defeat in the 2012 U.S.
Presidential election:
Again, maybe we just answered our own question? While all auctioneers aren’t male, and all auctioneers aren’t white, and all auctioneers aren’t older … most are.
So, are all auctioneers Republican? Most, but not all.
