An elliptical-shaped box, between the circle and the rectangle. The gold hour-markers and hands seem to float on a blue gold dial with magical reflections. Since its creation in 1968, Patek Philippe's Ellipse d'or has stood out from watches with traditional cases. Indeed, its design was inspired by the ancient principle of the "golden rule", this "divine proportion" of 1/1.6180 discovered by Greek mathematicians, inspired the perfect balance of some of the most important architectural and artistic works of mankind.
